Parents:

All of the chaperone slots for Boston for my class have been filled.  Currently, I am creating a waitlist should spots become available.  Thank you for your interest in chaperoning this field trip.

 GENRE OF THE MONTH

You will be given a new genre choice for each month of the school year.  During that time, you will be selecting and reading as many books as possible from that genre.  At the end of the month, you will choose one of the books you have read to present a "Book Talk" to the class.  This Book Talk will showcase the book you have chosen.  Reading is to be done on an independent basis, and you will be keeping track of your books on the Scavone Book Log.  Books can be chosen from our school library, the public library, or your classroom library, but they should be books you haven't read before.  You will be working in the library with Ms. Pierce to learn about each genre, figure out how to Book Talk and hear about a bunch of new books in each genre.  The student who reads the most books each month will get a special prize.  We will be keeping track of your progress using a Book Log in the library - the Book Log will be online as well.
